During the period of July to November 2024, imports of Pakistan from Iran have achieved an impressive growth rate of 47% compared to the same period of the last year. According to official statistics, imports were at $533 million and this was $398 million for the corresponding period in the previous year.
The imports from Iran in November 2023 were $88.4 million while in November 2024 they were $129.7 million. This is equivalent to a 34% increase in imports from January to May of the current financial year.

On the export front, Pakistan’s rice exports also experienced substantial growth. The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported a 35.40% increase in rice exports, with more than 2.377 million metric tons valued at $1.515 billion exported from July to November 2024.
Basmati rice exports rose by 34.64%, with 370,282 metric tons valued at $386.116 million exported. Meanwhile, non-basmati rice exports surged to $1.129 billion, with over 2.006 million metric tons shipped.
