After a phenomenal start to the 3rd edition of Pantene HUM Showcase on day one, day two continued with the same energy, and a fresh lineup of renowned brands.
From active wear to gorgeous heritage pieces, the runway saw it all. HSY, Neelo Allawala, U&I by Umer and Imrana, Mona Imran, Outfitters, Hussain Rehar and Mahgul each showcased an innovative collection at this prestigious platform.
Starting the show was Pakistan’s fashion force, HSY, with a one of a kind collection titled ‘HSY Active’.
The collection put a fashionable spin on contemporary athleisure clothing and is created for the active man and woman with Ahmed Ali Akbar and Mansha Pasha as showstoppers.
Neelo Allawala followed with an evening wear collection with chic and modern designed pants and lightly worked tops. The diversity and classic style of the ensembles make them wearable throughout the year, suited to the summer or fall climate alike as modeled by her showstopper Sarwat Gillani.
Umer and Imrana’s runway debut brought ‘Living Traditions’, a conscious attempt to highlight the multi-faceted handloom tradition of Pakistan and its potential for mainstream fashion garments for men and women. Drawing inspiration from the classic kurta, shalwar and angarkha, this maiden collection was fashioned with contemporary silhouettes for the woman of today.
This was followed by Mona Imran’s pret line ‘Bejewelled’, which was a collection of demi couture separates and coordinates in jewel tones. The western wear included high waist and drop waist dresses with eye-catching fusion cuts, patterns and flares. While for the ethnic dresses, Mona Imran brought asymmetrical bodices with brio skirts, and the Wrong No. 2 stars Neelam Muneer and Sami Khan as showstoppers.
Outfitters showcased ‘Conversations’, which depicts an amalgamation of the latest street-style trends and youth culture. The carefully designed pieces were put-together to express individuality and personal style.
Rising star Hussain Rehar’s ‘H2O’ was an amalgamation of vivid lines with curvy, linear prints to create a contemporary, bold and emotive vision refined with high fashion sensibility to dazzling new extremes. The uber stylish actress Ayesha Omar walked as a showstopper for Rehar.
Mahgul closed the show with her collection ‘Between Ebony and Ivory’, which brought out the spirit of contrast and harmony, channeling a new interpretation of what it means to be ‘feminine’. Predominantly set in a monochromatic aesthetic with minimal embellishment, the collection was based on form and structure with a less is more vibe.
Pantene presented “The Strong is Beautiful” Award to the very talented Sarwat Gillani for her contribution towards promoting the Special Olympics Pakistan.
The upcoming talented duo Umer & Imrana bagged the Pantene Rising Star Award.
Speaking on the occasion, Sultana Siddiqui president HUM Network said, “HUM Network has given the local fashion and entertainment industry an array of platforms to not only present talented designers and artists to the global audience, but also to raise the bar of creativity with the quality content presented. We started bridal couture week and the world now knows the intricate and beautiful work of our designers and their craftsmanship. In the same way, local pret, couture and luxury wear industries need to be introduced to the people around the globe, and HUM Showcase within a very short span of time, has taken over the fraternity with its top of the line production values resulting in high-end fashion on the ramp and via broadcast globally. Our team has worked successfully to project home grown talent locally and internationally and will endeavour to do so by continuing to work and give talented people the chance to showcase their work on such platforms. I am also happy that my sons Duraid CEO HUM Network, and Shunaid Board Director HUM Network, support the network in projecting Pakistani culture abroad.”
