The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has strongly rejected rumors suggesting that the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final could be moved from Lahore to Dubai if India reaches the final. These rumors, first published by The Telegraph, claimed the final’s venue might shift last minute due to political tensions between India and Pakistan.

The Telegraph’s Report

According to The Telegraph, while the tournament is set to take place across Pakistan from February 19 to March 9, the venue for the final could change due to India’s reluctance to play in Pakistan. The report hinted at Dubai being a possible backup if political tensions between the two nations continued.

“India have not played an international match in Pakistan since 2008. There is as yet no indication that the Indian government will relax its ban on touring Pakistan,” the report stated.

“As previously reported, there is a strong possibility that the ICC will ultimately find a different venue for India’s matches – including, if they advance that far, the final itself.

“The final, on March 9, has been awarded to Lahore. But Telegraph Sport understands that alternative options are being informally considered in case India reach the final, with Dubai likely to be the new venue.”

PCB: “No Truth to the Reports”

The PCB quickly dismissed these rumors, setting the record straight. They emphasized that all 15 matches, including the final, will happen as planned in Pakistan.

“There is absolutely no truth to the reports suggesting that the Champions Trophy final could be moved outside Pakistan,” said a PCB spokesperson. “We are working diligently to ensure that all preparations for the tournament are on track, and we are confident that Pakistan will be able to host a memorable event.”

Despite the political uncertainty, the PCB remains focused on hosting the tournament entirely in Pakistan, including the much-anticipated final in Lahore.

Cricket fans on both sides of the border are waiting for clarity on India’s participation. But for now, one thing is crystal clear: the PCB is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the final stays where it belongs—Lahore.
