The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is anxiously waiting for the final confirmation from the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding the schedule for the Champions Trophy 2025. The apex cricketing body has hinted that final schedule will come out by the end of October.

However, the PCB is pushing hard for the schedule to be finalized soon, considering the little time left for the tournament. The host cricket board need a final approve so they can move full steam ahead with their planning and preparations.

Why the Delay?

In recent discussions with ICC officials, the PCB stressed how important it is to finalize the schedule early. After all, organizing a global tournament is no small feat.

According to sources within the PCB, provisional bookings have already been made based on a proposed schedule. However, the board is waiting for the official green light before confirming any logistical arrangements.

Key Meetings on the Horizon

It’s not just the PCB keeping a close eye on things. The upcoming Women’s World Cup final might see a key meeting between PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and Jay Shah, the newly appointed ICC Chairman and BCCI Secretary.

This meeting could be a crucial considering the fact that India is yet to confirm their participation in the tournament in Pakistan. Indian media previously reported that BCCI wants to play their matches at a neutral venue.

It’s worth noting that India last visited Pakistan in July 2008 for the Asia Cup. In the 16 years since, Pakistan has traveled to India three times: once for a bilateral series in 2012-2013, and twice for the T20 World Cup in 2016 and the ODI World Cup in 2023.

The Champions Trophy is tentatively scheduled from February 19 to March 9, with a reserve day set for March 10. The semi-finals are scheduled for March 5 and 6 in Karachi and Rawalpindi respectively. Meanwhile, Lahore will host the final on March 9.
