The Pakistani Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) is on a roll with strict actions being taken by the media watchdog against Nickelodeon (Nick) for showing indecent content in its episode, “The Emperor’s Throne” from the popular series “Winx Club”.
A show cause notice was sent to Nickelodeon on April 28th, 2017 for airing the questionable episode where a character was shown to be dressed indecently. PEMRA has now fined the cartoon channel an amount of PKR 500,000.

This is not the first time action has been taken against a cartoon. Earlier on, a show by the name, “Emperor has no clothes on” was banned by the regulatory body after receiving numerous complaints from concerned parents.

The channel was found to be in violation of Clauses 3(1)(a), 3 (1) (e), 12 and 17 of Electronic Media Code of Conduct, 2015 and has been directed to employ an in-house committee to monitor all content before being aired.
