Following the resignation of engineers and technicians from Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), the management of the national flag carrier has decided to hire employees on daily wages.
Interviews have started for over 100 candidates who have completed a training period at PIA. They are being considered for contract-based employment. The officials of an engineering department have called these candidates for interviews. To manage the shortage of engineering staff, PIA will recruit over 100 technicians on daily wages.

However, no decision has yet been made related to hiring aircraft engineers. The last batch of aircraft engineers was recruited in 2016. Along with PIA, the Society of Aircraft Engineers spokesperson also confirmed the new hiring.
It is worth mentioning that 65 technicians and 45 aircraft engineers have resigned from the PIA and joined domestic and international airlines.
Yesterday, a British delegation arrived in Pakistan in order to assist the countryโs aviation safety standards.
The delegation from the UK Department for Transport and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is set to review the safety standards of the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA).
This review is an important step toward the resumption of flight operations between Pakistan and the UK. PCAA Director-General Nadir Shafi Dar and his team are hosting the delegation.
