Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) now welcomes Air Vice Marshal (retired) Muhammad Amir Hayat as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), a role he assumes for a year, following his previous role as Acting CEO. The CEO position at PIA had been vacant since Air Marshal Arshad Malik concluded his three-year term on April 25. Arshad Malik had taken the helm in October 2018.
Although the prime minister had rejected this recommendation to recruit the PIA CEO for three years the federal government has recently granted approval for the appointment of PIA’s CEO, with the decision receiving the green light from the federal cabinet through circulation. Hashim Raza and Mazhar Uddin were also considered for the esteemed position, as revealed by different sources.
