A Focus on Trade and Economic Progress
Earlier, he arrived in Jeddah on Wednesday, where he was warmly received by Prince Saud bin Mishaal, the deputy governor of Makkah. His visit is mainly focused on enhancing trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
During his stay, he is scheduled to meet Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to discuss ways to expand bilateral trade, investment and economic collaboration. The discussions will include exploring new partnerships in key sectors that can benefit both nations.
The visit comes after both countries signed 34 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) worth $2.8 billion last October, aimed at boosting private sector cooperation. Reviewing the progress of these agreements is one of the main agendas of the Prime Ministerโs meetings.
Apart from economic discussions, PM Shehbaz and Saudi leaders will also talk about important regional matters. The discussions will cover the situation in Gaza, the broader Middle Eastern political landscape and challenges faced by the Muslim world.
Saudi Arabiaโs Vision 2030 provides new opportunities for Pakistani businesses, as the growing consumer demand in the kingdom opens doors for economic cooperation. The Pakistani diaspora in Saudi Arabia, which consists of around 2.7 million people, plays a crucial role in sending remittances back home and contributing to Pakistanโs economy.
PM Shehbaz delegation includes key officials, such as Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. They will engage in discussions with Saudi authorities to explore further investment opportunities for Pakistan.
This visit is expected to enhance economic ties, promote investment and strengthen the historical bond between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
