K-Electric (KE) has restored power supply to Pakistan Railways after earlier suspending it over unpaid dues of Rs430 million. The electricity provider, frustrated with “multiple reminders and assurances” that were not honoured, stressed that continued supply was “unsustainable without the payments.” The court lifted the stay order on the issue, urging both parties to find a resolution. Negotiations are now underway with senior officials from both KE and Railways present.

The power suspension disrupted key Railways operations, including online ticket booking and 38 passenger trains departing daily from Karachi. Pakistan Railways’ divisional superintendent Nasir Khalili revealed that the division generates Rs50โ€“60 million in daily revenue and claimed KE owes Railways Rs70 billion in decade-old dues.
