Since September 29, 2019 the National Transmission and Disยญpatch Companyโs (NTDC) 500KV Hubยญco-NKI line is under forced outage.
This has resulted to an unforeseen reduction of up to 250 MW in the power supply from the naยญtional grid to the K-Electric system.
In the light of rising temperatures and compounded by the insignificant powยญer supply from 150MW wind corridor of the National Grid due to low wind factor, K-Electric is trying to be vigilant about the power shortfall and is making all possible attempts to manage it.
Of course, they are also keeping in mind the hot and humid temperatures due to which citizens might feel the absence of electricity all the more.
Here is what the spokesperson for K-Electric had to say about the situation:
โWe remain in close coordination with NTDC officials to minimize the disrupยญtion resulting from the power supply situation and ensure the fastest possible resolution to this issue.
The reduced supply from the NTDC, albeit temporarily, may necessitate brief spells of load management, includยญing in exempted areas.
We have informed our valued customยญers of the situation through SMS and thank them for their patience and unยญderstanding during this time. As soon as the NTDCโs maintenance work is completed, the situation with respect to power supply would be normalised across the city. We shall keep our cusยญtomers informed about the developยญments and regret the inconvenience caused.โ
We hope the news will help you stay prepared for the expected power shortfall.
