The Karachi Kings have made two key adjustments due to injuries and player absences in its PSL 10 squad. The team announced the addition of Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Ben McDermott and Pakistan’s emerging batting prospect Saad Baig as replacements for Liton Das and Kane Williamson, respectively.
Injuries Force Changes
Bangladesh’s Liton Das, much expected to leave his mark in the PSL, has been ruled out of the whole tournament following a finger injury sustained in a practice session. Scans indicated a hairline fracture that will keep him out for a minimum of two weeks—effectively ending his PSL stint before it could start.

Liton’s Heartbreak
“I was really looking forward to playing in the PSL for Karachi Kings, but the Almighty had some other intentions… So, unfortunately, my PSL campaign is over before it has even started.”
He appreciated the fans’ support and wished for the Kings’ success, asking them to pray for him as he goes back to Bangladesh to recover.

McDermott and Baig Step In
In Liton’s absence, the Kings have signed Ben McDermott, the veteran Australian wicketkeeper-batter with his big-hitting T20 prowess. McDermott has significant international experience, with appearances in many leagues, such as the Big Bash and The Hundred.
Saad Baig, a young Pakistani batter, has been brought in as short-term cover for Kane Williamson, who will miss the first few games of the tournament due to personal reasons. Saad’s inclusion provides an opportunity for local talent to make an impact on the big stage, as the Kings try to balance their overseas and local line-up.
High Stakes against Multan
Karachi Kings beat Multan Sultans in their opening match at the National Bank Stadium, Karachi. Without Liton and Williamson, the reorganised team will be under pressure to provide early victories in a highly competitive season.
PSL 10: Already Drama-Filled
Elsewhere, Islamabad United also suffered a last-minute blow as Alex Carey chose to opt out of the tournament due to domestic commitments, contributing to a pre-season reshuffle among franchises.
As the curtain goes up on PSL 10, one thing is certain: depth, flexibility, and management of the squad might be the formula for hoisting the trophy this season. For the Karachi Kings, the McDermott-Baig combination might end up being trump cards.
