Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has worked day and night to ensure that users are secured while using the internet.
One of the many actions the watchdog has taken is blocking porn and proxy websites.
PTA disclosed the figures in front of the Supreme Court, Mr. Nayyar Rizvi, Additional Attorney General (AAG) submitted a report claiming that PTA has blocked 0.4 million adult sites and 9,846 proxy sites as well.
The report also revealed that the authority has blocked other illegal satellite programming and content which is aired by local cable operators around the country.
The report was submitted to the SC when it was hearing a case against airing obscene, vulgar and objectionable material through direct to home (DTH) service.
According to TechJuice, PTA has also established a ‘Web Analysis Cell’, following the legal framework and directions issued by the federal government. Through this cell reported websites on PTA’s helpline, toll-free number, fax, post/web, form and dedicated email are analyzed and process.
Another step taken by the authoritative figure is that they have placed a parental consent software list on its website, in order to aware people about the dark side of the internet in collaboration with Higher Education Commission (HEC).
