Artists in Pakistan’s entertainment business celebrated the government’s recognition of the film industry as a legitimate industry before the country’s Independence Day celebrations. The National Icon Award 2023 event, which took place on August 12 in Lahore, made this announcement.
The star-studded event honored the entertainment industry’s outstanding accomplishments and provided an unforgettable evening. Celebrities from both the political and entertainment realms attended the event. Wahaj Ali, Humayun Saeed, Mawra Hocane, and Iffat Omar, were among the celebrities who graced the event with their presence.
The significance of the event was further emphasized by the inclusion of former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb on the prestigious guest list.

Icon Awards Recipients
The icon award was received by some of the top-notch names in the industry for their services to Pakistani TV. These honors were given to acknowledge the celebrity’s dedication, notable accomplishments, and contribution to the development of the industry. The list of winners includes celebrities like Humayun Saeed, Fawad Khan, Bushra Ansari, Bilal Lashari, Wahaj Ali, Nadia Jamil, Resham, Mawra Hussain, Mohib Mirza, Sanam Saeed, Meera, Nadeem Baig, Vaneezah Ahmed, Usman Peerzada, Saba Hameed, Rubina Ashraf, Iffat Umar, Ghulam Mohiuddin, Babra Sharif, Sultana Siddiqui and more.
Celebrities Take To Stage
Meanwhile, celebrities and actors also took a minute to comment on the policies and prestigious initiatives taken by the government while thanking the former Prime Minister and former Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Marriyum Aurangzeb.
“Respected PM, we thank you, and I have a hunch that your family, somewhere deep down, is artistic. You’re fond of music, and if these germs weren’t in you, you wouldn’t be so tender and warm-hearted towards our industry,” concluded Bushra Ansari in her thank-you note.

Celebrities also took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the initiative taken by the government.

Fawad Khan was also among the actors who took the stage to receive an award. In his thank you note he hopes to have an industry that is independent and thrives on being self-reliant.
“It’s an honor to be amongst very distinguished and senior artists who are with us today. I am very honored to receive this award and to be a part of this fraternity and, God-willing, the steps that are being taken. I hope it turns into a very cohesive movement and we take this ahead in a unified front and God-willing, our industry becomes a truly independent industry – not reliant, with the help of the government – but eventually becomes an industry of its own.”
All in all moving speeches and heartfelt dialogues that highlighted the peace among artists and their shared love of their trade made the event stand out.
