1st May 2020: Pakistani actor Shaan Shahid is not happy about Resurrection Ertugrul being aired on state-run tv channel, PTV. The Turkish series has been dubbed in Urdu and is being aired during the month of Ramadan.
The directives were made straight by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan. Here is what Shaan had to say:
Try to find our own history and it’s hero’s ..

He replied to a tweet by Senator Faisal Javed Khan saying, “Try to find our own history, and it’s heroes.” His point of view was not taken positively as many jumped into heated arguments with the star.
Exactly my point…Sadly our actors have disappointed us in this regard…None of them has taken a stand against these classless below average dramas & films that are recently being made by Pakistan..
Its like our actors are ready to play any & every role when offered money!

Ertugul is our hero. Osman is the hero of every Muslim around the world. Please don’t create divide on the basis of language.

If there is something really good which could make a positive impact on people who are used to same cliché melodramas at prime time, why shouldn’t it be brought here on demand for audience to see?

In the end, Shaan tweeted the PM should put forward local talent and history.
@ImranKhanPTI sir I believe in this economic crisis we were not supporting imports .then why cultural imports are open . Why Ptv showing imported dramas believe in your own talent and history .With your supportive policies we can bring 🇵🇰🎥 on the entertainment map of the world

All five seasons will be dubbed in the Urdu language and will be telecasted during the month of Ramadan so the general public can watch it.
Earlier, Pakistan, Malaysia, and Turkey joined forces to fight the global trend called ‘Islamophobia’. It was also decided to launch a separate TV channel to counter the challenges faced by Islamophobia and to produce films on Muslim heroes.
