Seems like Pakistan’s big-wig Oil and Ghee brands are in great trouble. Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has banned as many as 50 oils and ghee products, declaring their production unfit for human consumption.
In March, PFA took around 142 samples from 120 companies. Only:
- 92 passed
- 26 failed
- 24 failed to meet PFA’s nutritional standards
All the Samples were tested by PCSIR, Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, an ISO-certified international standard laboratory.

Brands that have clearly failed to pass the test will be removed from the markets. A fine of 1 million has been imposed on them. What is more, PFA has urged the public not to use these harmful products. However, those oil and ghee products that have nutritional value have been given a chance of one month to improve their quality,
