According to Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD), Ramadan moon is likely to be sighted on Monday evening, May 6, 2019
Consequently, the holy month is expected to begin on May 7.
A press released by PMD states:
The new moon of Ramzan, 1440 AH will be born on crossing conjunction point at 03-45 PST on 05- 05-2019.
Astronomical parameters of the new moon and average cloud amounts at Pilot Balloon Observatories of Pakistan Meteorological Department are attached herewith.
According to astronomical parameters, there is No Chance of sighting the new moon of Ramzan, 1440 AH on the evening of 05-05-2019 i.e. on 29th of Shaban, 1440 AH.
According to climate record, the weather is expected fair/partly cloudy in most parts of the country.
A PMD expert stated:
“The new moon will be 15 hours and 18 minutes old by the time sun sets on Sunday, May 5 in Pakistan, and it will be only seven degrees above the horizon”
Countries in the Middle East and Saudi Arabia will likely witness the Ramadan moon on May 5 with the first fast to be on May 6
