The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet in Peshawar on February 28 (Friday) to see the Ramadan moon. If the moon is sighted, the holy month of fasting will begin on March 1 (Saturday). Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, the committee’s chairman, will preside over the meeting after the Asr prayer.
Zonal committee meetings will also take place to receive moon sighting reports, according to a notification from the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Clerics from different schools of thought will attend the central meeting.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) earlier reported that the first day of fasting in Pakistan is expected on March 2. The PMD predicted the new moon will likely be born on February 28 at 5:45 pm, increasing the chances of the crescent sighting on March 1.
An astronomy centre in Abu Dhabi also said that Ramadan is expected to begin on March 1, The National reported. The International Astronomical Centre (IAC) announced that most Muslim countries will try to observe the new crescent moon on February 28, and some Arab countries could see it on the same day.
