Ninja Gaiden 2 Black was released on 23 January 2025, along with the news that fans are getting Ninja Gaiden 4 in fall 2025!
Ninja Gaiden 4 Announced
Years after Ninja Gaiden 3 in 2012, Team Ninja finally announced the launch of Ninja Gaiden 4 in Fall 2025. It is developed in partnership with Platinum Games and will be released on Xbox, PC and PlayStation 5.
The announcement came during the Xbox Developer Direct event, where both gameplay footage and developer insights teased what players can expect.
What the Game Offers
The game will feature a new protagonist named Yakumo; a young ninja warrior who has to defeat the terrifying black dragon. Yakumo’s fate is intertwined with the legendary Ryu Hayabusa, the main ninja from the previous games. The trailer unfolds a scene where both ninjas face each other as Yakumo pushes off Ryu to carry on with his mission. The game is set immediately after the events of Ninja Gaiden 3. The world is filled with darkness and nonstop rain. It also keeps Ninja Gaiden’s signature intensity and intricate fight sequences alive. Although Ryu is not the main character in this version, he will still play a very crucial role.
Ninja Gaiden 2 Now Available
In another announcement, Xbox and Koei Tecmo have released a redesigned and remastered version of Ninja Gaiden 2, powered by Unreal Engine 5.

In Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, players take on the role of Ryu Hayabusa, a legendary ninja wielding the legendary Dragon Sword. As the game unfolds, he engages in a global quest to defeat a series of powerful enemies. This improved version includes significantly enhanced graphics, including redesigned stages, characters and lighting. Slight elements like dismemberment and blood have also been redesigned to enhance the experience. It also includes three new characters: Momiji, Ayane and Rachel. A “Hero Play Style” mode is also specifically made for beginners to get used to the game’s characteristics.
