Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, stated, “It is Pakistan’s duty to protect the religious places of all faiths” and vowed to work on beautifying holy sites for all religions, including Hindus. He added, “The minorities living in Pakistan are our own people. We will send a positive message to the world about the minority community.” At the inauguration of the new residential complex at Katas Raj Temple, he highlighted that a modern 36-room facility, built at a cost of Rs19 crore will provide comfortable accommodation for Hindu pilgrims from Pakistan and abroad.
Chaudhry Salik Hussain praised the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) and its chairman, Syed Dr. Atta-ur-Rehman, for their efforts to protect and develop non-Muslim religious sites. He invited Hindu followers from Pakistan, India and beyond to visit the Katas Raj Temple and worship with “complete religious freedom, facilitated by the Government of Pakistan.” ETPB Chairman Syed Dr. Atta-ur-Rehman thanked the federal minister, noting the addition of new rooms, a 40 kW solar power system and 6,000 plants to improve the temple’s environment.
