RuPaul's Drag Race Launches Season 17 with Squid Game Parody

Paul’s Drag Race is back on its 17th season. This time around, the queens are all diving straight into chaos with the Squid Game twist. The first episode, ‘Squirrel Games,’ will be premiered on January 3, bringing together a lot of high drama and jaw-dropping poses in the most unforgettable premiere for the season.

A Wild Premiere: Squirrel Games

The premiere starts with 14 new queens being whisked away in unmarked vans to a secretive location. On arrival, they face their first challenge: Ru Light, Green Light. A playful version of Squid Game’s Red Light, Green Light, this challenge requires the queens to achieve fierce poses, freezing into position when the music stops.

Adding to the suspense, a Lil’ Pound Cake statue monitors their every move. Any detected movement leads to an instant pieing—a hilarious and messy elimination. Overseeing the action from above is none other than RuPaul, channelling Squid Game’s mysterious Front Man.

Fan Favourites and Nostalgic Cameos

Joining the new contestants are Drag Race alumni, including All Stars winners Angeria Paris VanMichaels and Trinity the Tuck. Fan favourites like Kerri Colby, Morgan McMichaels, and Victoria “Porkchop” Parker also make appearances. Porkchop, Drag Race’s first-ever eliminated queen, humorously relives her history by being the first to get pied in the Squirrel Games.

The presence of experienced queens raises the bar and creates a more exciting experience for the new contenders.
