Peshawar Zalmi’s opening batsman, Saim Ayub, has provided insight into his intriguing dynamic with captain Babar Azam during the ongoing PSL 9, highlighting their unique partnership on the field.
In an interview with a local sports channel, Ayub candidly shared his approach to playing shots, acknowledging the influence of Babar Azam’s guidance.
He revealed that while Babar advises him against certain shots, he sometimes defies the captain’s instructions, creating an element of spontaneity in their partnership.
“A lot of guidance comes from Babar. Sometimes I do things he will ask me to stop, like if he says not to play shots, I will go for it and when he says go for it, I will not. But opening with him is exciting,” Ayub remarked, reflecting on their on-field rapport.
Saim Ayub also expressed admiration for Babar Azam’s leadership and praised his captaincy skills.

Ayub’s bowling performances in PSL 9 have been commendable, with five innings yielding three wickets at an economy rate of 9.00.
