It’s not every day you get to see a piece of cricketing history up close. But for the students of a private college in Karachi, Friday turned out to be just that kind of day. Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, the man who famously led Pakistan to their first-ever ICC Champions Trophy title in 2017, made a special appearance at the college for the trophy tour.
A Trip Down Memory Lane
The excitement was palpable as Sarfaraz walked into the college, greeted by cheers from students and faculty alike. As the crowd buzzed with energy, Sarfaraz took a moment to share some memories from that unforgettable tournament.

“All our players will remember every single moment from that event. It was a historic achievement for us,” he told the eager audience.
For many in the crowd, especially the students who grew up watching that iconic final against India, hearing Sarfaraz recount the journey was a pinch-me moment. The captain even posed proudly with the trophy, surrounded by thrilled students snapping selfies and soaking up the experience.
Interestingly, the original plan was to hold the Champions Trophy tour event at the historic Mohatta Palace. But due to some last-minute permission hiccups, the venue was shifted to the college. No harm done, though—the college event turned out to be just as vibrant and memorable as any grand photoshoot.
The Trophy’s Karachi Adventure
The Champions Trophy tour has been lighting up Karachi since it kicked off on November 20. Cricket fans across the city have had the chance to see the trophy in some iconic locations.
The first stop was none other than the lively Burns Road food street, where the trophy gleamed under the streetlights, blending cricket with Karachi’s bustling street culture.
Next up, the silverware made its way to the Hanif Mohammad High-Performance Centre at the National Bank Cricket Arena. It then took a meaningful detour to the Edhi Centre before heading to Seaview for a stunning photoshoot against the picturesque Karachi coastline.
And the tour isn’t over yet! The trophy will continue its Karachi journey until November 25 before heading to Afghanistan and other cricket-loving nations.
