Capital investors and entrepreneurs in Pakistan and around the world can now make the most of Saudi Arabia‘s latest announcement.
The kingdom is now offering a special green card residency scheme in which the individual is no longer required to have a Saudi employer or sponsor (Kafeel).
The special scheme has been taken out to attract capital fund owners and skilled expatriates towards the country.
Saudi Arabia’s Shoura Council approved of the green card scheme on Wednesday.
Eligibility for Special Green Card Scheme
There is a criterion one must meet before they can be granted Saudi Arabia’s special green card.
They are as followed:
- No criminal record
- Valid passport
- Health report
- Credit report
Green Card Categories
There are two categories that require a set amount of fee. The categories are temporary Iqama and permanent Iqama.
The announced system comes with a number of benefits for expatriates who will hold the green card, including:
- Ability to hire employees
- Ownership of transport and property
- Employment in the commerce sector, private sector, and industry
- Freedom of travel (exit from the Kingdom and return)
- Designated queues at airports
The introduction of this new system is a first for the country which changes the decades-old Kafala system which required a sponsor or employer known as a Khaleel in order for permission to be granted for the designated time.
