Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Nawaf bin Saeed Ahmed Al Maliki, made a special announcement for the Pakistan cricket team. If the Green Shirts win the T20 World Cup 2024, the team will be the royal guests on Hajj next year.
This remarkable gesture adds another layer of motivation for the Men in Green as they gear up for the tournament.
Pakistan is set to start their T20 World Cup journey in Dallas on June 6 against co-hosts United States of America (USA), and the team is eager to make a strong start.
Best Wishes from Saudi Arabia
In a heartfelt video message, Saudi Ambassador Al Maliki extended his best wishes to the Pakistan cricket team.
“My message to my brothers of the Pakistan cricket team is that God willing, you will win this tournament,” he said.
“The Pakistani people will celebrate the team’s success in the World Cup.” He also expressed his prayers for Pakistan’s prosperity and development, adding that if Pakistan wins, the team will be royal guests on Hajj next year.
Past Glory and Near Misses
Pakistan has tasted T20 World Cup glory before, winning the title in 2009 by defeating Sri Lanka at Lord’s Cricket Ground. Shahid Afridi was the star of the match, earning the Player of the Match title.
Since then, Pakistan has come close to winning the title twice. In the 2021 T20 World Cup, they reached the semi-final but lost to Australia. Despite a strong performance, Matthew Wade’s late-game heroics secured the win for Australia.
In the 2022 T20 World Cup, Pakistan reached the final against England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Ben Stokes, England’s hero from the 2019 ODI World Cup, once again delivered under pressure, leading his team to victory.
As the T20 World Cup 2024 approaches, Pakistan’s cricket team is more motivated than ever. With the added incentive of a royal Hajj visit, the Men in Green have an extra reason to aim for the top.
Fans around the world will be eagerly watching to see if Pakistan can capture the title once again and earn this incredible honour.
