On the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr 2025, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) released a statement on issuing new currency notes.
In a statement released, the central bank has strongly disputed reports that new currency notes won’t be printed. On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr 2025, the SBP made it clear that it would ensure the continuance of its “long-standing tradition” of issuing new notes to commercial banks.
“To ensure easy access to new currency notes for the public, the SBP is utilising the extensive branch network of banks nationwide,” stated the SBP, and added, “During Ramadan this year, the SBP has already provided new currency notes worth Rs 27 billion to over 17,000 commercial bank branches.”
