The mythology around Paris has lost none of its lustre it would seem, as the French capital tops a new ranking of the best vacations of 2018-2019.
For the list, US News & World Report analyzed more than 700 destinations using a methodology that combines travellers’ opinions with expert and editor analysis.
Destinations were scored across 10 categories, including sights, culture, food, nightlife, adventure and romance.
While the top five world destinations are filled with some of the usual suspects — Rome and London also crack the top five spots — American travellers also crave nature and wilderness, as Yellowstone National Park is ranked second.
The list for best places to visit in the US is also dominated by outdoor parks: Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon and Yosemite feature in the top five spots.
When it comes to the top-ranked world destination, editors describe Paris as “the pinnacle of art, history, culture and tourism.”
