The German brand, Adidas, is famous for its sportswear. In their recent ad, they decided to leave an inspiring message for their consumers. To do that, they featured the basketball player, Damian Lillard. There, he talks about his trust in himself and the willingness to achieve his goals.
Basketball player and Adidas
Damian Lillard talks about how he never doubted himself. And it was because of that that he was able to be where he is now, going from a high-school basketball player to Portland Trail Blazers. Not only that, but he also believed that he could up his game every time, and he was able to!
And thus, this ad portrays perfectly the message ‘impossible is nothing’.
Impossible is nothing
The message ‘impossible is nothing’ is not hard to understand. But it certainly takes willpower to incorporate into our lifestyle. What it denotes is accurately explained by Muhammad Ali:
“Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”
According to this, impossible is a phenomenon people use as an excuse not to do something. But it is only that; it has no factual reality because if you set down your goal and work towards it, you would most definitely achieve it.
The message in the ad is certainly inspiring, but while watching the ad, it reminds the viewers, or at least me, of another ad—an ad by Nike, a rival company, featuring Kobe Bryant. Although the message is different, the way a celebrity has been used gives a similar vibe to Nike. How about you check that out as well and then form an opinion about it?
