TikTok gained fast momentum in Pakistan since its official launch, it had just 19.5mn downloads in 2019. The application has celebrities and fans hooked! However, it has also been under scrutiny for various reasons.
CheckPoint, a cyber-security firm has recently come across a major flaw in the application through which hackers can gain access to a user’s personal information, including their videos.
Furthermore, this flaw also allows hackers to message another individual’s from the user’s account. Through this, they send a suspicious link to other users which redirects them a page similar to TikTok’s homepage.
Eventually, their account becomes easier for hackers to access and hack. Reportedly, CheckPoint has informed TikTok about this flaw.

uke Deshotels, the head of TikTok’s security team commented:
TikTok is committed to protecting user data. Like many organizations, we encourage responsible security researchers to privately disclose zero-day vulnerabilities to us. Before public disclosure, Check Point agreed that all reported issues were patched in the latest version of our app. We hope that this successful resolution will encourage future collaboration with security researchers.
