Influencer marketing has gained traction in Pakistan over the years. With more and more influencers and brands coming aboard, it is no surprise that the industry is thriving. However, the concern regarding Influencers charging hefty amounts has been a major concern for brands and netizens alike.
In a recent instance, a Twitter user took to her social media to share her thoughts regarding the matter. While social media has been divided regarding their stance we can only assume that that issue is more trivial than it sounds.
A user posted a screenshot of a conversation between a brand and the influencer’s manager. In the screenshot, the promotional quotations have been shared by the Influencer’s manager.

Let's get this straight: you want to promote your business for free on someone else's page (who has invested the time to build a following and has a market clearing rate), ask for a price list and then publish it online as if that person is evil for charging for her services? https://t.co/WtDkrpPTZG

The Twitter thread is full of public opinions and reactions which are extremely varying. Influencer marketing has always been quite debatable and seeing varying Twitter reviews has shared insights into the matter.
to be fair, people usually accept PR packages for free, or just doesn’t guarantee they’ll ever use it or post it. I’ve never heard of anyone charging to get PR packages, just charging if the brand wants to make sure they post it.

And like being an insta celebrity is not hard work. Bro, I find taking a shower before going to work an oppressing chore. These women who have to dress up on a daily basis, putting all the thought into looking good and creating fashion trends is very hard work.

While influencer partnerships can be mutually beneficial, some influencers have capitalized on their popularity to demand exorbitant fees. This practice often lacks transparency and can lead to an imbalance in the value exchange. Factors such as follower count and engagement rates sometimes overshadow the actual impact of an influencer’s promotion on a brand’s bottom line.
Brands must navigate this landscape carefully, ensuring that they receive genuine value for their investment, rather than falling victim to inflated pricing driven by the allure of social media fame.
