UAE Confirms No Official Visa Ban on Pakistani Nationals

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has confirmed that there is no official visa ban on Pakistani nationals, according to Pakistanโ€™s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA). The ministry shared this update with the National Assembly in response to a query from lawmaker Dr Nafisa Shah.

The UAE Embassy in Islamabad clarified that the countryโ€™s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security has introduced a new five-year visa policy with additional requirements. Applicants now need to provide round-trip tickets, hotel bookings, proof of property ownership (if applicable), and a down payment of 3,000 Emirati dirhams (AED).

Although there is no formal ban, Pakistanโ€™s Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that several factors have led to stricter scrutiny of Pakistani visa applications. These include cases of fake degrees, fraudulent employment contracts, visa overstays, and involvement in political or criminal activities. UAE authorities have also raised concerns about the misuse of social media by some Pakistani nationals.

The Pakistan Embassy in Abu Dhabi has been in regular contact with UAE officials to address these issues, while MoFAโ€™s Middle East Division has engaged with the UAE Embassy in Islamabad. To help streamline visa processing, they have been providing recommendation letters to the UAE Embassy. Emirati officials have reiterated that no official restrictions are in place for Pakistani applicants, reaffirming their commitment to resolving any challenges diplomatically.
