Onija Andrew Robbins, a 35-year-old American woman, has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and other health issues after travelling to Karachi for a 19-year-old Pakistani man she claims to have married online. Robbins, a mother of two, arrived in the city driven by her love for Nidal Ahmed Memon, a resident of Garden West. However, she refuses to return to the United States without him.
Robbins is currently receiving treatment at the Special Ward of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) in Karachi, where she is undergoing continuous evaluations and medical tests. Her visit visa expired three months ago, but she has been granted an extension while Nidal and his family have been hiding since her arrival and media attention.

Medical staff at JPMC confirmed that Robbins is being treated for bipolar disorder, which she has been managing in the U.S. Prior to her treatment, her hemoglobin levels were found to be dangerously low, requiring two blood transfusions. Additionally, liver issues were identified and are being closely monitored.
Professor Chooni Lal, head of the Psychiatry Department at JPMC, explained that Robbins underwent a series of tests that revealed both psychological and physical health concerns. She was initially admitted to the psychiatric ward but was later transferred to the Special Ward under police custody due to overcrowding in the psychiatric facility.
