Former Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram has issued a public apology to boxer Muhammad Waseem “on behalf of Pakistan”.
The boxer had just received a stunning victory against Philippines’ Conrado Tanamor in Dubai last week but went unnoticed.
Akram congratulated the athlete and regretted that there was no one to receive the winning boxer at the airport.
He further writes that “Sometimes we as a country need to be “smacked on the face” with the fist of reality to wake us up and remind us how we should be treating our hero’s. I’m picking you up from the airport next time myself!”

Boxing star Muhammad Waseem knocked-out his opponent in a 62-second match. Waseem, who now holds a 9-1 record with six knockouts, used a three-left hand punch combination. The third punch was a crushing hook which sent his opponent back to the canvas.
