Pakistan paceman, Mohammad Wasim Jr., disclosed that the sidelined Naseem Shah provided valuable insights that influenced Pakistan’s performance in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023 in India.
Wasim expressed the significance of Naseem’s guidance in matches against South Africa and Bangladesh.
He stated, “We are definitely missing Naseem Shah. I spoke to Naseem before Pakistan’s match against South Africa as well as Bangladesh. He advised me about how to bowl on these pitches which helped me. Naseem’s tips were really helpful for me.”
Wasim Jr. has achieved notable success, securing five wickets across two matches in the ongoing World Cup. He delivered figures of 2-50 against South Africa and 3-31 against Bangladesh. Notably, South Africa’s resounding 190-run victory over New Zealand in the 32nd match of the ICC World Cup 2023 in Pune on Wednesday provided a boost to Pakistan’s campaign.
Despite the formidable challenges that lie ahead, this win offers a glimmer of hope for Babar Azam and his team in their quest for a spot in the semi-finals. To bolster their chances, Pakistan needs to secure victories in their upcoming matches, particularly against New Zealand.
Additionally, they hope for Sri Lanka to prevail over the Black Caps. If these scenarios align, Pakistan could conclude the group stage with 10 points, paving their way to the knockout stage.
