WhatsApp is mirroring a Facebook feature with its newest update. Being one of the most used social media applications, the platforms are doing everything possible to ensure user safety and security after the Cambridge Analytica scandal.
Now, WhatsApp is also allowing users to “Request Account Info”. The company also announced that it is not sharing account information with its parent company, Facebook at this time.
With this feature, the user can request the company to export a report of their WhatsApp account’s setting and information. For example, their chat, pictures, videos, profile picture, group names, etc.
Facebook also has a download data option allowing users to get a report of their activity which users can download and view accordingly. A new FAQ support page details how the tool will work.
According to TechJuice, Previously, Facebook’s download tool and the new Instagram data download tool were offering a link to users within 48 hours. All the data can be easily available for you to download.
While WhatsApp’s support page says that account reports will be available approximately 3 days after the date requested. Meaning you have to wait 72 hours before you could download all the chats, pictures, videos, etc.
