The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has delayed issuing No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for key players Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Mohammad Rizwan to participate in the Global T20 Canada.
The trio, along with several other Pakistani cricketers, are awaiting clearance to join the league. The reason for the delay is PCB’s ongoing discussions with the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding the affiliation of the Global T20 Canada.
The decision to grant NOCs will be made once the ICC provides clarification on the league’s status. This delay has left the players in a state of uncertainty.
Pakistani Players Drafted for Global T20 Canada
Seven Pakistani cricketers have been picked by various teams for the Global T20 Canada:
- Vancouver Knights: Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Asif Ali, Mohammad Amir
- Toronto Nationals: Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Nawaz
- Bangla Tigers Mississauga: Iftikhar Ahmed
PCB’s NOC Policy and Current Status
The PCB has recently issued NOCs to 12 players for participation in various leagues worldwide. However, their policy restricts centrally contracted players to participate in no more than two leagues annually.
This policy led to wicketkeeper-batsman Azam Khan withdrawing from the Lanka Premier League (LPL) as he couldn’t secure an NOC. Meanwhile, Khan along with Saim Ayub are part of the Guyana Warriors for the upcoming Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024, but they are still awaiting NOCs from the PCB.

Here are the Pakistani players who have received NOCs to participate in different leagues:
