will-team-india-sport-a-saffron-kit-in-clash-against-pakistan

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) addressed recent speculations about the Indian cricket team donning a saffron-coloured kit for the highly anticipated World Cup 2023 match against Pakistan.

Contrary to reports, BCCI’s Ashish Shelar affirmed that India will proudly continue to wear their national blue throughout the World Cup campaign.

Rumours began circulating as the team India trained in a saffron kit similar to the one worn by the Netherlands. Some drew parallels to the 2019 World Cup when India introduced an alternate jersey.

However, Shelar was quick to quash these reports, labelling them as unfounded and the product of imaginative thinking. He stated, “We categorically dismiss the media reports that Team India will be donning an alternative match kit against Pakistan. These reports are absolutely baseless and a work of someone’s imagination. The Men in Blue will sport India colours – Blue at ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.”

It’s worth noting that during the 2019 World Cup in England, teams were permitted to wear alternate kits in case of a colour clash with their opponents. India famously sported a dark blue jersey with vibrant orange sleeves during their match against England. Likewise, South Africa opted for their distinctive yellow jersey in games against Pakistan and Bangladesh.

The anticipation for the India-Pakistan clash, slated for October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, continues to mount, promising an electrifying showdown that fans will long remember.

The ICC World Cup 2023 officially began in India on October 5. The tournament features 10 teams vying for the title across 10 venues in 45 high-stakes league matches.

As the tournament progresses, the top four teams will advance to the semifinals. These crucial matches are set in Mumbai on November 15 and in Kolkata on November 16. Reserve days have been allocated for both the semifinals and the final to ensure fairness.
